StreetLight hosts a complimentary weekly outreach dinner to the homeless. Every week we serve approximately 125 individuals and families. Many of the people we serve rarely get a wholesome meal. In lieu of the harsh conditions in which they live, we try to offer an environment that will lift their spirits each week. The dinner not only provides nourishment for their bodies, but food for their soul. People who typically feel isolated and alone gain a sense of community and fellowship.
Social workers from Prince William County “Path” program attend the dinner in an effort to connect clientele with community services. Also, StreetLight Case Managers and trained volunteer mentors seek to build relationship with our participants, providing assistance with practical needs, counsel, and hope.
Community Outreach to Unsheltered Homeless
Areas of outreach to the unsheltered homeless include our weekly outreach dinner to the homeless, regular campsite visits and bi-monthly propane distribution during the winter months. We also provide crisis items such as tent , sleeping bags, tarps and other crisis needs for the unsheltered homeless.
