In Prince William County and the surrounding areas of Northern Virginia, housing for homeless men and women without children is grossly inadequate. According to the Prince William County 2011 Homeless Enumeration “Point in Time Count”:
- More than 700 people in Prince William County alone are homeless.
- Children account for more than one-fourth of the region’s homeless population.
- There are more than 2,000 people without homes in the surrounding areas of northern Virginia.
- Emergency shelter and supportive housing capacity still thousands of beds short of the need.

StreetLight hosts a complimentary weekly benevolence outreach dinner at our facility for approximately 125 men, women, and children, many of whom rarely see a wholesome meal.
Our youth group meets directly after dinner at our weekly fellowship on Wednesday evenings. These teens come from impoverished homes where they rarely receive a well-balanced meal. Some of these teens have already experienced the trauma of homelessness. It is amazing that in today’s affluent society a significant number of children find themselves living out of a car or moving from hotel to hotel with their families for extended periods of time.
StreetLight celebrates Christmas by giving to children in need. In an effort to share the Christmas spirit, StreetLight has partnered with “Toys for Tots” as a distributing agency to provide Christmas presents for children in need.
